چکیده

A nonsingular performance comparison between two standard robust adaptive control designs based on the dead-zone and projection modifications is given. A worst case transient cost functional penalising the L∞ norm of the state, control and control derivative has been chosen as the criterion of comparison. If a bound on the L∞ norm of the disturbance is known, it is shown that the dead-zone controller outperforms the projection controller when the a-priori information on the unknown system parameter is sufficiently conservative. For clarity of the presentation, the result is restricted to scalar systems and the generalisations are only briefly discussed.

A Non–singular Performance Comparison Between Two Robust Adaptive Control Designs

We consider standard robust adaptive control designs based on the dead-zone and projection modifications, and compare their performance w.r.t. a worst case transient cost functional penalizing the L norm of the state, control and control derivative. If a bound on the L norm of the disturbance is known, it is shown that the dead-zone controller outperforms the projection controller when the a-pr...

Overparameterised adaptive controllers can reduce non-singular costs

By means of two examples we show that non-singular costs can been reduced for adaptive controllers by overparameterising the estimators. The examples are for scalar and second order systems respectively. In the second example the tuning function design and the overparameterised adaptive backstepping design are compared. In both cases a system is constructed for which the overparameterised desig...

Dynamic modeling and control of a 4 DOF robotic finger using adaptive-robust and adaptive-neural controllers

In this research, first, kinematic and dynamic equations of a 4-DOF 3-link robotic finger are derived using Denavit-Hartenberg convention and Lagrange’s formulation. To model the muscles, several springs and dampers are placed between the finger links. Then, two advanced controllers, namely adaptive-robust and adaptive-neural, which can control the robotic finger in presence of parametric uncer...

Saturated Neural Adaptive Robust Output Feedback Control of Robot Manipulators:An Experimental Comparative Study

In this study, an observer-based tracking controller is proposed and evaluatedexperimentally to solve the trajectory tracking problem of robotic manipulators with the torque saturationin the presence of model uncertainties and external disturbances. In comparison with the state-of-the-artobserver-based controllers in the literature, this paper introduces a saturated observer-based controllerbas...

Adaptive Observer-Based Decentralized Scheme for Robust Nonlinear Power Flow Control Using HPFC

This paper investigates the robust decentralized nonlinear control of power flow in a power system using a new configuration of UPFC. This structure comprises two shunt converters and one series capacitor called as hybrid power flow controller (HPFC). A controller is designed via control Lyapunov function (CLF) and adaptive observer to surmount the problems of stability such as tracking desired...
